FAQS

WHAT ABOUT A VISA?
  • If you are 30 or under and hold a passport from an eligible country (check the Immigration New Zealand website) you can qualify for a Working Holiday Visa - this is very quick and easy to apply for. You can work for a maximum of 12 months on this visa and for UK + Canada passport holders you can travel for an additional 11 months after.

  • If you are older than 30, already had a Working Holiday Visa or want to stay for more than 1 year there are opportunities to apply for an Essential Skills Visa or Long Term Skilled Shortage Visa which are directly linked to employment, or the Skilled Migrant Visa which is an independent visa.

HOW DO I GET REGISTERED?
  • Unless you have completed a full-time, 4-year course you will need at least 1-year post-graduate experience.

  • The application is portfolio based - there are no exams

  • You will be able to talk to a UK physiotherapist who has been in your situation and will help you throughout the registration process - including free guides and unlimited phone/email support

  • The registration process takes a minimum of 6 months but the more time you allow the better!

HOW MUCH WILL THIS COST?
  • The Working Holiday Visa costs NZ $280, for the Working Holiday Visa application, you will need to prove you have NZ $350 in savings for each month you intend to stay in New Zealand AND enough money for a return flight.

  • The Essential SKills visa costs $495 and you must have a full-time employment offer before you can apply

  • The Registration costs NZ $1734.50 - this is paid directly to the board and you must hold an Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) which costs NZ $555 every year

  • Our service is completely FREE!

HOW DO I INTERVIEW AND SECURE A ROLE?
  • We have lots of great partnerships and connections to employers throughout New Zealand; once you have your registration we can organise a phone call with you to discuss roles and locations making sure that you get the best fit. We will then pass you onto our partners for Skype or phone interviews so that you can secure a role before you leave.

  • We will make sure you understand the role/company and receive the correct salary for your level of experience

HOW WILL I GET SET UP/ WHAT ABOUT ACCOMMODATION?
  • Once you have secured a role we can introduce you to other physios that may be working in the same location and advise you on everything you need to know about moving to New Zealand, we are also always available before you leave/ when you arrive if you have any questions about the move.

  • Most physios book an Air B&B or hostel for 2 weeks while they look around share houses - we would really recommend this as it is a great way to meet new people - we would also really recommend joining a sports team!
