AHPRA has recently updated its system, here are a few key updates:

AHPRA Registration Period – Considering when to apply:

  • Runs annually from 1 December to 30 November.
  • If your registration is approved between 1 October 2025 and 30 November 2025, it will be valid until 30 November 2026.
  • If approved before 1 October 2025, it will be valid until 30 November 2025 & you will need to renew this again.
  • Your selected Registration commencement date must be within 90 days from when you apply
  • AHPRA does not offer refunds or pro-rata fees.
  • Application processing times (from our experience)
    • PT for Australia applying with Express FLYR Certificate – 6-8 weeks
    • PT/OT Trans-Tasman – 1-2 weeks
    • OT with stage 1 approved applying for limited registration (anywhere from 6 weeks-3 months)

InstaID+ Improvements

  • You can now verify your identity online without needing certified ID documents, saving time and money – you will be sent the link from InstaID after submitting your AHPRA application.
  • Note: You still need certified copies of your degree certificate and academic transcript (except for NZ–AUS Trans-Tasman applications).

COGS Email Address

  • AHPRA now has a dedicated email for Certificates of Good Standing (COGS):
    [email protected]

Express FLYR Update – South Africa Added!

  • South Africa has been added to the Express FLYR list (NO EXAMS!!), joining the UK, Ireland, and Canada.
  • To qualify: You must have completed your physiotherapy degree in South Africa and held HPCSA registration within the last 5 years.

Common Glitches & Delays

  • It’s common not to hear back until your application is approved (usually around 8 weeks) & AHPRA will often not respond to messages – don’t worry you are not the only one!
  • A case officer will usually only contact you if additional information is required.
  • There have been some reported delays while the system has changed over

Application Tracker Delays

  • Even after InstaID is completed, your tracker may not update right away.
  • This can be due to pending checks (e.g., COGS or criminal history) or the application still being queued for review

If you are looking to secure a role through us, we are always happy to support you with the registration process.
