- The Working Holiday Visa (WHV) is a popular initial visa option for eligible passport holders. This visa allows you to work in Australia for 12 months and currently costs AUD $670 (plus proof of approximately AUD $5,000 in savings).
- UK passport holders may be eligible for up to three Working Holiday Visas (3 years) without needing to complete specified regional work. Requirements for second and third visas vary for other nationalities.
- Looking to stay long-term, bring family, or not eligible for a WHV?
-
- The most popular options are Employer Sponsorship or a Skilled Visa.
- Employer Sponsorship (482 Visa) – This visa is linked to an employer. Once you have obtained your Australian nursing registration, we can introduce you to employers who may be able to offer sponsorship. Current visa fees are AUD $3,210 per adult and AUD $805 per child.
- Skilled Visa (189/190/491) – If you would prefer a permanent residency pathway that is not linked to an employer, you may wish to explore the Skilled Visa options.
- Under 30/35s
-
- The main costs to be aware of are your visa application (see above) and obtaining your Australian nursing registration. Most UK nurses should budget approximately AUD $800–1,000 for registration-related costs, depending on their individual circumstances and any additional checks required.
- We will secure you a full-time role before you arrive. Salaries typically range from AUD $70,000–120,000+ plus superannuation, depending on your specialty, experience, and location.
- Our service is completely free and is for those looking to be placed with one of our partner employers.
-
- Once you have read through the role/visa eligibility information (available on the website/booklets) – please let us know which role/visa you are interested in and the university you attended/graduation year, we will then send through more information about the registration process
- We will support you throughout the registration process including free guides and unlimited phone/email support, we are experts and here to help!
-
- Allowing for around 6 months would be ideal!
- The registration process timeframe can vary depending on how long it takes to source the documents required, we would suggest you allow for at least 3 months.
- Once your registration has been approved, we find 3-4 months is an ideal timeframe for the next steps (securing a role + visa/handing in your notice/getting organised, etc!).
-
We will arrange interviews once your registration has been approved and ideally, maximum 3-4 months before your planned start date – this gives you enough time to hand in your notice/get organised to leave/apply for your visa etc. and also means that the role is not left open for too long for the employer.
We can also organise interviews nearer to your start date depending on which visa you hold/are looking to apply for.
-
We have partnerships with employers all across Australia! Once you have your Australian nursing registration approved through AHPRA, we can help you choose a location that is a good fit for you. We can also provide location guides. Our team has all experienced living in Australia, so we can provide honest feedback and help you find the best fit.
-
Relocation assistance may be available for some positions, depending on the employer and current market conditions (e.g. upfront amount which can be used for flights/accommodation) for those who are moving on a long-term visa e.g. Sponsorship/Skilled Visa.
-
Our suggested levels are just a suggestion! If you do not have this, we are still happy to see what roles we have available for you once you have your Australian registration approved.
If you are looking to work in a metropolitan location, we would recommend having your registration approved and interviewing outside of the peak period (January–April), as this can be a more competitive time for nursing roles
-
If you are applying for a sponsorship or skilled visa, children/partners can be added to your visa/they can apply for subsequent visas based on your successful application – conditions apply.
If you are applying for a Working Holiday Visa – these are individual visas/cannot add children.
-
The most competitive time of year to secure a role in a metropolitan location is typically January to April. From May onwards, there are generally more opportunities available. If you are hoping to live in a metropolitan area, we would recommend avoiding a January or February arrival where possible, as accommodation can be more competitive at the start of the year.
